How the work is actually done
Most people think pressure washing is one machine and one setting. It is not. The pressure is matched to what is being cleaned, and the roof gets the least of it.
Roofs are cleaned at a maximum of 70 PSI from a battery operated pump. That is garden hose pressure. There is no loud machine sitting on your roof and nothing that lifts a tile or strips shingle granules. Exterior soft washing, which covers soffit, fascia, aluminium pool cages and screens and house exteriors, runs 900 to 1200 PSI. Full pressure, 3000 to 4000 PSI, only ever goes on concrete, sidewalks, curbing and pavers, which is exactly where it belongs.
The cleaning itself is chemistry, not force. Every job starts with a mix of cleaners, degreasers and surfactant based soaps that kill the mold and algae at the source. Knock the streaks off without killing what causes them and they are back by next season.
Dilution is the solution
The rinse gets the same care as the wash. When the job is done the chemical is diluted down until it stops acting on anything, because the thing that actually stops people booking a roof clean is not the roof, it is the landscaping under it.
One part of that is on your side. If you have irrigation around the property, run it before we arrive and for at least a week to 10 days after we leave, so nothing dies at the root. Competitors can claim soft washing. Almost nobody explains the rinse.
